Scavenger Hunt

1. Get Academic
This is technically a book, but I am really looking forward to reading this as I am looking into going into educational leadership. This book also addresses issues of race and gender inequality both issues I am very passionate about.

2. Develop Professionally
After working in the Petén Rainforest, my passion for environmental education really took off. While completing the Moreland Program, I was also completing Forest School Certifications. I will get my last level 3 Forest School Certificate doing a practicum in England Summer 2023.

3. Student Scavenger Hunt
What Makes you happy?
For our SEL scavenger hunt, we found all sorts of things that make us happy at school. Some of the things we found were to answer these questions: Who makes you happy at school? What's your favorite book in our classroom? What is your favorite thing to play with outside? and What is your favorite Montessori work?
Our class photo here is of our favorite Montessori work.

4. Create Awareness
My Class Performs 'The Ugly Duckling'
The Ugly Duckling is a story I grew up with so I thought it was a great story to use with my class. This story not only exposed my students to a story from a different culture and language, but also brought an important lesson to life, we can't judge people by appearances and we should always show kindness and compassion to everyone. This video is at our schools monthly showcase and is a bit chaotic, but hey it's kindergarten and the students had fun.

5. Create a Memory
The Crew
I have loved getting to know my cohort members throughout this program. I feel like I have a new group of friends. We are all very supportive of each other and I am honored to work with such an amazing group of educators.

6. Find Common Ground
Me and Liam Trying New Foods!
My friend Liam and I have worked together for three years and besides being awesome coworkers, we are great friends too. We both love eating and trying new foods. Here we are eating at a new Tibetan place. Everything was so yummy!

7. Get Social
One important thing I learned in the Clinical
I think this process allowed me to really reflect on my lessons. I thought I was reflecting before but then during the clinical writing a whole reflection while keeping in mind different standards and meeting with my mentor has really pushed me to evolve and fix my mistakes and grow in my own teaching practices.

8. Share an Achievement
I can't do everything
I think my biggest challenge wasn't directly related with this program but I was forced to think about it, confront it and overcome it throughout this program. My challenge was control. I think before this program, I always wanted to be in control of everything and I was always putting a lot of responsibilities on myself. I think this program made me better at collaborating with others and I learned that I can't control everything and that there is a huge need to have a work-life balance that demands rest, not just 10 different kinds of work.

9. Get Personal
An ethic I live by
Work hard because it's worth it.

I know I work a lot and push myself to grow and achieve new heights. This is so that I can support my students the best I can and work continuously to be a better educator everyday.
