Change

The big question, what's your 5 year plan? Always a scary question. Personally, I like this question. I think it gives me an opportunity to evaluate my goals and think logically about what steps I'm taking to make my dreams a reality.

My basic 5 year plan includes 3 major steps.
First, I want to finish my Master's Degree.
Second, I want to find a job in a different position from where I am now. I would like to look into university jobs or an administrator role at a primary school.
Third, I want to create my own language school. Something I am very passionate about is bringing all of my knowledge and experience back to my home country, Mexico.

My dream is to create a language school that is affordable to real people. I have had many opportunities to learn language and those opportunities can completely change your life. I want to take my experiences, knowledge and passion and give it back to the people. I want to offer education opportunities for my community. Knowing another language can benefit people so much, it is truly a life-changing skill. Another important consideration and passion I want to follow in my school is teaching indigenous and rare languages.

I understand that the last of these three goals is a huge undertaking, but this is what I need to do. In the meantime, I try to think about what I'm doing to work towards my school everyday. When I am doing my Master's assignments, I know I'm one step closer, teaching my students, learning new techniques, practicing new games and activities, these are all small ways that I think are getting me steps closer to realizing my dream in language education.
